Ps: 121: 1-8.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord
In a time of crisis like this, we have finally decided to lift our eyes to the mountain, time has come to really look up to the Lord for help.
We know this psalm since our childhood, in fact many of us made it by heart – but we did it all as a part of our religion – it is merely a practice – it is a part of ritual, nothing more than that.
Because so far, we feel everything is fine, we never felt that we are going in a wrong direction and there will be a dead-end situation.
Because our journey is so easy and jolly, we didn’t give much care about the spiritual road signs and rules of life journey, we take everything for granted.
We didn’t care about our personal relationship with our Lord our real helper rather satisfied with attending the church services
We didn’t care about the warnings from the Word of God, instead we are making silly comments about the preacher and the message.
We didn’t respect our elders and our leaders
We don’t accept anyone’s advice, because we thought we know everything.
We live with the attitude of “I know better than you”.
We didn’t care about others feelings and other’s needs.
We live with attitude of “I’ “Me” “My” – selfish life style.
Sincerely speaking we do not have time to lift our eyes to the mountains, because we held up with so many things in this earth, busy, busy and busy life!
Actually, we don’t need your help because we have everything, we are rich in every sense.
We failed to teach our children to lift their eyes up because when they have temperature on their body, we give medicine immediately instead of pray, so they learn when crisis come look to the medicine bottle in the shelfs instead of looking up to you Lord
So, we are in 2020 March now, it seems like dead end point, we don’t see any way out the invisible enemy is all around us, almost trying to destroy us
Lord we never expected this will happen in our life time
Time has come for us and our children to really lift up our eyes to the mountain because these medicines become helpless in this situation, so we really need your help oh’ Lord.
We thought money will help us in the time of need, but now we understood the dollar bills are just a piece of paper before corona virus so, we really need your help oh’ Lord.
We thought we are the most privileged people in the history of the world with advanced technology to solve any problem we may face, but Lord, all advanced technologies are helpless before this Covid 19 virus attack so, we really need your help oh’ Lord.
We though our well-trained powerful military with all their advanced weapons will protect us from any enemies from any side of the world, but they are also scared and frighten now and become helpless before this hidden invisible enemy so, we really need your help oh’ Lord.
Lord we thought our governments has all the power and authority to protect their citizens, but not only our government but all over the world is helpless in this situation so we really need your help oh’ Lord.
Father we thought we have capable scientists, even noble prize winner to invent the solution to overcome any crisis, but Lord they are also tired and exhausted so we really need your help oh’ Lord.
We have so many shrines (holy places) on different hills, like Sabari hill, Malayattoor hill, Mecca and Medina but Lord they all closed when people really need help from those places
All the churches closed, all the temples closed and all the mosques and all the synagogues are closed oh, Lord
Father one thing we realize now that your door will not close any time it is remain open for anyone who need help.
Father as you promised in Hebrew: 4: 16
Father we then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].
Ps: 34: 16. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;
Oh, thank God your doors are not closed, your heaven is not closed – My Lord. He never closed the heaven, because He will neither slumber nor sleep.
Ps: 34: 16. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;
So, with full confidence we lift up our eyes to the mountains— where from our help comes
Ps: 34: 4-7. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Even from the Fear of Covid-19.
Therefore, I will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. Ps: 91: 5-6.
So, with full confidence we lift up our eyes to the mountains, because:
Ps: 34: 4-7. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
Father we hear your loving and caring voice like :
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest Mtt: 11:28
Call unto me and I will answer you. Jer: 33:3 .
Come to me I will come to you.
I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
3 For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
4 [Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.
Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him;
Ps: 121: 5-6.. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand;6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
What it means? When Israel was in the wilderness, day and night there was covering over them with the glory Shekinah –
The Lord has been with them but they were not been with God so what happened to these Israelites?
God protected Israelites from their enemies but they could not protect themselves
Hundreds of people killed by sword, hundreds of them swallowed by the earth, thousands of the killed by snake bites finally all of them except Joshua and Kaleb were destroyed in the wilderness because of their sin.
They all were under the cloud, but God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
The sun harmed them by day, and the moon harmed them by night.
Jer: 6: 14. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.
Jer: 6: 24. We have heard the report of it; Our hands become limp and helpless. Anguish has gripped us, Pain like that of a woman in childbirth.
25 Do not go out into the field nor walk on the road, For the enemy is armed with the sword; Terror is on every side
26 O daughter of my people [says Jeremiah], Clothe yourself in sackcloth and wallow in ashes; Mourn [aloud] as for an only son, A most bitter cry [of sorrow and regret], For suddenly the destroyer will come upon us [on both prophet and people].
27. I [the Lord] have set you as an assayer [O Jeremiah] and as a tester [of the ore] of My people, That you may know and analyze their acts.”
28. They are all the worst [kind] of [stiff-necked, godless] rebels, Going around spreading slander. They are [not gold and silver ore, but] bronze and iron; They are all corrupt.
29 The bellows blow fiercely, The lead is consumed by the fire; In vain they continue refining, But the wicked are not separated and removed.
30 They call them rejected silver [only dross, without value], Because the Lord has rejected them.
Eep: 6: 10-18. 10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. 11.11 Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
12. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.
13 13 Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].
14 So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), 15 and having [c]strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. 16 Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
18
18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.
Ps: 121: 7-8. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.7
Ps: 73: 1. Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
