Acts: 12: 5. So, Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
Acts: 12:12. When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother o f John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.
When church faced a great persecution (James was killed and Peter was in the prison) devil made a huge fear among the believers. So, John Mark and his mother Mary opened their house for prayer , In fact this is not the first time they open their house for the church
In Luke chapter 22: 7-14, the first time they gave their house for Jesus and His disciples
i. They gave their upper room – that shows the better part of their house
ii. They gave their large room – that shows the largeness of their heart for the Lord and his ministry
iii. They gave it as furnished room – that shows that their respect and honor to the Lord - receiving Jesus and serving him is really expensive – you need to pay the price for great blessings
11. They gave it to Jesus forever – not for one time use or for one occasion – but permanently gave to the Lord – still that upper room is belonging to Jesus and His church, for last two thousand years millions of saints came their and prayed and while many buildings have been destroyed this upper room is still stands there
i) Jesus is in the house in Bethlehem
Mt: 2:10-11. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. Vs11. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.
We do not know anything about this house, they might have seen, the baby and the mother in a manger while so many people ignored them this family welcomed and opened their house for Joseph, Mary and infant Jesus.
Look, unexpected things happened in that house because they opened their house for Jesus:
i. The one who is worthy to be worshiped is in this house.
ii. The star (glory of God) stood over this house in Bethlehem
iii. The kings (wise men) are in there house
iv. Worship started in that house
v. They (wise men) opened their treasury and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh
Many people missed the opportunity to welcome Jesus in their house and miss so many blessing
We set sofa and couches in our house that shows we welcome others to come and have seat. But do we have a sofa for the Lord?
Lord abides on the praises of his people.
If Jesus is in the house there will be worship, alone with worship the material blessing follows.
ii) Salvation is in the house
Lk: 19:9. Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too, is a son of Abraham.” Peace and gladness in that house.
iii) Healing is in the house
Mk: 2:2. A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. V.3 some men came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four of them.
Lk: 4: 38-40. Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon.
V.40 When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.
Four men carried to Jesus a paralyzed man – we do not know their names – but it called “four men”
Who are these four men?
F – Faith – man of faith
O – Obedience – man of obedience
U – Unity - man of unity
R – Readiness – man who is ready for anything
They carried a burden to Jesus but went back free
Even our children should have a faith in healing
Come to the Lord with your burden, whatever it may be, our Lord is the answer
Let healing takes place in our houses, let our children see and experience the divine healing in their life
Instead of trusting medicine let them ask the parents to pray for them or call pastor to pray for them when they get sick.
They should learn this from their parents; many believes that Jesus is their provider but not healer.
